Taking out home insurance is recommended for tenants.
Home insurance is an affordable way to secure your own items and cover potential damage that may be caused to others or the real estate. Home insurance also covers bicycles and sports equipment that are kept in the storeroom.
Koas’ real estate insurance does not cover any damage caused to residents’ movable property nor any damage suffered by the real estate and neighbours because of water damage caused by negligence of tenants.
Howden Finland’s AsumisPLUS Insurance
Koas provides tenants with Howden Finland’s AsumisPLUS insurance. This insurance covers costs incurred by tenants due to a lost key, medical treatment expenses resulting from an accident, and housing interruptions caused by sudden damage. Under certain conditions, AsumisPLUS also covers the deductible of a car’s insurance* if a tree falls on the car due to a storm on the housing company’s parking lot. It may also cover the deductible of the liability insurance in the tenant’s home insurance**, if the tenant’s vehicle causes damage to the housing company’s property.
You can, for example, apply for compensation for the costs related to a lost key if it results in lock replacement fees. Compensation for expenses can be claimed once per year. What to do if damage occurs?
Submit a damage report via the insurance company’s online link at: howdenfinland.fi/asumisplus
You can also download a damage report form and send it to AIG either by email to: finlandclaims@aig.com or by mail to: AIG Europe Limited (Finland) Identifier 5008951 00003 VASTAUSLÄHETYS (postage is prepaid)
Mention insurance number 2001023601 (for accident-related claims) or 2001194842 (for other claims such as key protection or housing interruption).
Attach cost receipts to the damage report form, or you can submit them to the insurance company later if you wish. For accident-related claims, a copy of the medical report must also be provided.
Claims are processed by AIG. For inquiries regarding the processing, you can contact AIG’s claims service directly either by email at finlandclaims@aig.com or by calling 0203 03456.
Please note: You must seek medical treatment within 14 days of the accident. Costs must be paid first by the tenant, and compensation is then claimed by submitting the original receipts.
