Central Finland Student Housing Foundation

The Central Finland Student Housing Foundation rents out, builds and maintains flats for students in Jyväskylä. The foundation is supported by the City of Jyväskylä, the students' union of the University, the students of the Polytechnic - registered association Jamko - and some smaller students' unions.

Koas offers inexpensive and safe rented flat accommodation for all students studying in the educational institutions after the comprehensive school. The result target of the foundation is to cover the building maintenance costs and capital costs and to gather profits for preparing to future building renovations. The turnover of the foundation is 11,500,000 € and the total assets are 77,200,000 €.

Koas has 78 blocks of flats in various parts of Jyväskylä. The great majority of the flats are small flats, single-room flats and family and shared flats with 2 rooms + kitchen. The number of residences is 3,950.

The foundation is administered by a biannually convening commission comprising 26 members and a 9-member board. Organs responsible for the residential democracy are the residents' committees of the housing locations and the co-operation commission of the residents' committees.
